The arrival of summer 2008 signals the return of the Noddy Trophy –

The exciting prequalifier is due on Friday 13th June, with fresh blood visiting the bankside. Following nine months of mentoring, Mr Barry Softley has been approved by the NT committee to fish the prequalifier. Current trophy holder Mr Rob Starkey stated in a recent interview with Norris Digweed; “the boy is a world class blanker; he’s up there with the best.  I’ve seen him catch tench when the water’s been black with Carp”.  In other news, veteran NT’er Mike Jamfrey has been reported to have landed a 28lb+ Swan at a secret Yorkshire venue. Associates say that he remains committed to his life-long persuit of the elusive Black Swan.

Latest tournament odds have been slashed on current trophy holder Rob Starkey following his world class ‘falling-in’ at the recent australiasian tournament event.  Other anglers in the event stated “His class shone out like a beacon; when he headed for the bow of the boat we knew we were in for something special.  The opening of the fly and the forward dive - What followed was exceptional…”.  On a more sobering note, it has been confirmed by Starkey that his trademark Quiksilver hat was lost during his antics. His wife is said to be devastated.

In another exiting twist the NT goes European in September with the ‘European cup final’ to be held at a secret venue in Le Mans, France.  Both Mike and Rob will be Garlic munching through a week of French bankside cuisine.  Watch out for the video later this year….
